UNC will transition from the stern test Maryland presented right
into a battle with the ACC regular season champion Miami Hurricanes.
UNC has had an up-and-down season but its fans will forgive all
the imperfections with a victory in Sunday's title game.

UNC has been battling some injuries during the ACC tournament.
UNC is already operating with a short rotation but the good news
is they have guys that have been capable of stepping in.
Desmond Hubert played six minutes, grabbed 2 rebounds
and blocked a shot during that time frame. Hubert has been
playing better of late, especially in his ball handling. He's
been grabbing the ball more strongly on rebounds and passes and
hasn't let it slip through his hands as often as he did earlier in
McAdoo clearly isn't moving the way he would if he didn't have a
bulging disk in his back. Look no further than his nine fouls
over the two tournament games to see how the injury has affected his
ability to play quality defense.
Hairston started hot against Maryland, drilling his first shot of
the game, a three-pointer. But he only shot 3-10 and 2-8 from
three-point range.Having a laceration on your hand is a tough injury
for a basketball player and should be closely monitored going
Shane Larkin has been sensational all season. He
continued his stellar play against N.C. State with 23 points, four
assists, three steals and seven rebounds.
Larkin shot 8-10 from the free throw line allowing his
aggressiveness to pay off with points from the charity stripe.
Durand Scott had been a sleeping volcano before the ACC
Then he erupted.
Scott poured in 32 points after only tallying nine points against
Boston College in the tournament opener, and six points against
Clemson during Miami's regular season finale.
Scott shot 67 percent from the field and knocked down five
three-pointers to help take out the Wolfpack.
He did foul out of the game and it would be wise for UNC to
attack him early in an attempt to get him in foul trouble and out of
Miami might have the most versatile set of players of any team in
That versatility allows them to dictate what kind of game they
would like to play instead of leaving that option in the hands of
UNC will undoubtedly go with their now traditional small line-up
as long as Hairston is able to play through his hand injury.
Johnson got a lot of preseason publicity but was sidelined for a
healthy chunk of the early year.
Johnson has produced recently but the talent and ability is
there. He hasn't scored in double digits since a February 13
game against Florida State but could tear up UNC's interior if they
take him lightly.
