Wolverines offer Ways
Maurice Ways in recent weeks: "Just be patient."Michigan's coaching staff has had a consistent message for Beverly Hills (Mich.) Detroit Country Day wide receiver
Late yesterday evening, his patience paid off. After working out for Michigan assistants at his high school yesterday afternoon - on just the fourth day of the Spring Evaluation Period in the recruiting process - the three-star prospect had shown the U-M coaches enough. They offered, and Ways immediately took to his twitter account.
"Hail yeah," he tweeted. "Just got offered by Michigan."
The 6-3, 195-pound Ways visited Ann Arbor each of the past two weekends. He saw the Wolverines' final spring scrimmage April 6, and was back in town for the annual spring game a week later.
"Between April and May, they said that's when you start getting the second tier of offer," he explained after the first visit. "They said, 'I think you're a guy that's going to be in that second-tier,' so I'm very hopeful that an offer's coming. They're just saying to be patient: they do things the Michigan way to make sure that the guys that they're offering are the top guys that they want. They just said to be patient, and 'your time is coming soon.'"
Now that Ways' time has come, the question shifts to what is next in the recruiting process for him. He has long held Michigan in high regard, but also holds offers from Iowa, Kansas, and Rutgers, along with a group of Mid-American Conference schools.
High school teammate Tyler Wiegers is committed to Rutgers.
