By the Numbers: Gallon establishes seven-game record

With a record-setting afternoon against Indiana in which he hauled in 369 yards receiving, fifth-year senior wide receiver Jeremy Gallon has racked up more yards (831) than any other Michigan target had ever recorded in the first seven games of a season.

  • Gallon is now averaging 118.7 yards per contest and is on pace for 1,543 yards, which would shattered Braylon Edwards' single-season record of 1,330 yards in 2004.

However, Gallon's big day against the Hoosiers has skewed the numbers considerably. If, instead, one used his 77.0-yard average from the first six games, he would still be on pace to total 1,331 yards over the next five regular-season contests and a bowl game.

  • Playing five games in 2012 and now seven this fall with redshirt junior Devin Gardner as his quarterback, Gallon has tallied 76 receptions for 1,342 yards and 10 scores in his last 12 games, numbers that over a single campaign would rank fifth, first and 11th, respectively, in the Michigan football annals.

  • Four of Michigan's top-nine receivers after seven games (excluding Gallon) went on to increase their production over their final few contests, with Mario Manningham bumping his average up by nine yards to 103.2 per game. Edwards, meanwhile, averaged 109.8 yards over his final five games in 2004.
