Michigan offer for Mack

The U-M coaching staff has turned up the heat on running back prospects in recent weeks. Minnesota commit Jeff Jones picked up a scholarship offer from the Maize and Blue at the beginning of the month, and yesterday, recent UCLA decommit Marlon Mack picked up one of his own.

The 5-11, 192-pounder posted the news on his Twitter account, just one day after rescinding his pledge to the Bruins (though UCLa is still in the mix). He met with U-M wide receivers coach Jeff Hecklinski at Sarasota (Fla.) Booker High School yesterday, and that's when he received the good news.

"Coach Jeff [Hecklinski] came to the school," Mack explained. "He offered me while he was there."

The three-star has the ability to play multiple positions, but is being recruited by the Wolverines as a running back, the position he plays in high school. His foot quickness and football instincts allow him to play much larger than his frame.

Mack is on an official visit to the University of Louisville this weekend, taking in the program new Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino plans to put together. He is hoping to make a trip to Michigan before the recruiting process comes to an end the first week in February.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to try to make it out there [on a visit]," he said. "I don't know when yet."

There are two weekends remaining before National Signing Day Feb. 5, and it's likely that Mack attempts to head to Ann Arbor for one of them.
