Wolverines take big jump in Top 25 polls

Michigan became the first Division I team to knock off three top 10 teams in consecutive regular-season games since Iowa in 1987, defeating Wisconsin, Iowa and Michigan State within an eight-day span.

And after that crazy run, which left Michigan 7-0 in Big Ten play and in the driver's seat of the conference race, the nation is starting to take notice.

The Wolverines leapt 11 spots in the Associated Press Top 25, climbing from No. 21 to No. 10 in just one week.

No. 1 Arizona, No. 2 Syracuse, No. 3 Florida, No. 4 Wichita State, No. 5 San Diego State, No. 6 Kansas, No. 7 Michigan State, No. 8 Oklahoma State and No. 9 Villanova round up the rest of the Top 10.

The Spartans fell from No. 3 nationally to No. 7 after the Wolverines handed them their second loss of the season, an 80-75 Michigan win in East Lansing Saturday night.

The Wolverines did not crack the top 10 of the USA Today Coaches' Poll, but they still climbed quite a way up the rankings.

Last week, Michigan was No. 25 in the poll. Now, after the win in East Lansing, the coaches have pegged the Wolverines as the No. 14 team nationally.

Interestingly, two of the former top 10 teams that Michigan knocked off in the last week - Wisconsin and Iowa - are still ahead of the Wolverines in the USA Today Coaches' Poll. The Badgers are No. 13, and the Hawkeyes sit at No. 12.

Take a look at both Top 25 polls, with Big Ten teams in bold:
