Wisconsin's junior day primer

Wisconsin is still putting the finishing touches on its 2014 recruiting class, but the coaching staff is set to host close to 30 juniors this weekend in Madison.

A solid in-state group is expected on campus, led by three-star offensive lineman Jon Dietzen. But the staff is also bringing in players from California, Minnesota, Illinois, Nebraska, Missouri and Ohio.

Four-star tight end Kyle Penniston from California figures to one of the headliners. The 6-foot-4, 216-pound prospect already holds offers from Miami and Florida State and camped at UW this past summer.

"My interest is still high and it's always been high," Penniston said when asked about his interest level in the Badgers. "I still would really want to go to Wisconsin if I had the opportunity, so I'm going to keep working and doing everything I can to earn that offer."

Dietzen, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive lineman from Slinger, already holds an offer from the Badgers. He recently picked up a scholarship from Michigan State and previously held one from Nebraska.

"I believe I am going Feb. 1 to the Badgers junior day," Dietzen told Rivals.com. "I'm actually going to visit the day before, then check out the junior day. I think I have a lot of interest coming from them. Being an in-state lineman, they kind of pride themselves on that."

Others from the in-state class to keep an eye on include Dyson Chmura, James Morgan, Andrew Ruzek and Jason Erdmann, among others. All four figure to be atop the list of in-state recruits in Wisconsin's 2015 class.

Outside of the state, the Badgers are expected to host Omari Stringer, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound safety from Illinois, David Moorman, a 6-foot-6, 285-pound lineman from Michigan and Kyle Markway, a three-star tight end from Missouri.

The state of Nebraska is also well represented, with C.J. Johnson, Noah Lazaro, Malik Hluchoweckyj and Adam Holtorf all on the guest list. Johnson (wide receiver), Holtorf (defensive line) and Lazaro (linebacker) visited Wisconsin this fall.

But there are plenty more high-major prospects expected on campus...
