Reports: Ty Isaac will visit Michigan next week

Former USC tailback Ty Isaac will visit Michigan next week according to two reports, as he mulls over his next stop following a decision to transfer from the Trojans program.

Rivals.com's EdgyTim site reported that Isaac visited Illinois on Thursday. There has been no word if he will take in other colleges nearby as he looks to stay close to a family situation in his hometown of Shorewood, Ill., that prompted the decision to leave Southern California.

Northwestern sources have told TheWolverine.com that the Wildcats are no longer thought to be in the hunt or be on Isaac's short list even though NU is one of only two Division I schools - Northern Illinois is the other - within the 100-mile radius of his home necessary to play in 2014 if granted an NCAA hardship waiver.

Isaac did not respond to a text and phone call from TheWolverine.com to confirm the date of his visit to U-M.

Michigan was one of Isaac's finalists before the Class of 2013 tailback pledged to USC. The Maize and Blue fared well, however, landing the nation's No. 1 ball carrier, Derrick Green, and three-star De'Veon Smith. The two rushed for 270 and 117 yards, respectively, during their freshman campaigns but have not cemented their status heading into the 2014 season.

If Isaac picks Michigan, he would have to sit out one year under transfer guidelines (because Ann Arbor is not within 100 miles of the NCAA waiver), unless the NCAA created a new precedent.
