Robinson makes it an NBA trio

Glenn Robinson III made it a triumphant trio for the Wolverines in the NBA Draft on Thursday night. The Minnesota grabbed the supremely athletic U-M big man with the No. 40 overall pick in the draft.

Robinson's decision to come out of Michigan after his sophomore year drew scrutiny by some, who questioned whether or not he performed consistently enough to warrant an early exit. But the son of former NBA standout Glenn Robinson, Jr. never lost confidence, and came on strongly at the end of the season.

His big moments from his sophomore season included a game-winning bucket at Purdue, giving Michigan a last-second victory after a rally from 17 points down. Robinson also connected on a key three-pointer down the stretch at Crisler Center, helping Michigan knock off Indiana and grab the outright Big Ten title.

Robinson wound up earning honorable mention All-Big Ten notice from both coaches and media for his 2013-14 efforts. He averaged 13.1 points per game, along with 4.4 rebounds per contest.

He became only the fourth U-M sophomore ever to be named a captain prior to his final season in a Michigan uniform. He also started every one of the 76 games the Wolverines played during his career, on the way to a 59-17 record overall, 27-9 in Big Ten play.

"I have a lot of confidence he's going to be a great pro," U-M coach John Beilein told WDFN radio in Detroit. "It's all part of the process, learning to play different positions, more on the perimeter, shooting more threes, driving and doing some things. He's made good progress. He played as good as anybody on our team in the NCAA Tournament."
