Junior year stats of Michigan's nine football commits

The high school seasons for Michigan's nine football pledges are about to start. Before the future Wolverines begin their senior seasons, here is a comprehensive look at their stats from their 2013 campaigns.

QB Alex Malzone: Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice went 14-0 in 2013, capturing the Catholic High School League Central Division 20-7 over Catholic Central, and defeating Muskegon 38-21 in the Division 2 state title game Malzone completed 190 of 281 passes (67.6 percent), for 2,795 yards, 25 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, posting a pass efficiency rate of 174.12.

ATH Brian Cole: Saginaw Heritage went 5-4 in 2013, failing to win the Saginaw Valley-North division, and failing to make it to the state playoffs Defensively, Cole recorded 47 tackles, and five interceptions Offensively, he ran for over 1,200 yards, with 16 touchdowns.

TE Chris Clark: Avon (Conn.) Old Farms went 8-2 last season, and won the Erickson League title. The Beavers lost the New England Prep School Super Bowl, falling to Suffield Academy 50-42 Clark caught 39 passes for 417 yards (10.7-yard average) and six touchdowns.

PK Andrew David: Massillon (Ohio) Washington went 9-3 in 2013. The Tigers lost to Highland in the OHSAA Division 2 state playoffs David was 5 of 10 on field goal attempts, and 24 for 25 on point-after-touchdown attempts.

CB Garrett Taylor: Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's was 6-4 last season, and lost in the first round of the state playoffs, 34-14, to future Wolverine QB Wilton Speight and The Collegiate School Taylor recorded 47 tackles, forced two fumbles, and had one interception.

LB Darrin Kirkland: Indianapolis Lawrence Central went 3-7 in 2013 and was bounced in the first round of the state playoffs Kirkland still accounted for 110 tackles, and eight sacks.

S Tyree Kinnell: Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne went 11-2 in 2013, and won the Greater Western Ohio Conference Central Division. The Warriors fell to Hilliard Davidson 37-7 in fine third round of the OHSAA Division I state playoffs Kinnel intercepted three passes, forced four fumbles, and had 60 tackles.

OL Grant Newsome: Lawrenceville Prep (N.J.) went 10-1 in 2013, losing to Hopewell Valley in the state playoffs 31-14. They also won the Mid-Atlantic Prep League.

OL Jon Runyan Jr.: Philadelphia St. Joseph's Prep went 12-3 last season, winning the Philadelphia Catholic League AAAA division, as well at the PIAA Class AAAA football state title.
