Commit Updates: Week of Aug. 29

After one week of high school football just a couple of Michigan's commits are awaiting their season opener. With most schools beginning last week there are a lot of stats being put up by future Wolverines.

Defensive Back
Tyree Kinnel
5-11/197, Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 9 player in Ohio, No. 195 player nationally
This week:
Kinnel's Warriors defeated Lincoln 40-0 in a one-sided rout. Kinnell tallied six tackles and one punt return for 30 yards. Kinnel's evening was over early in the blowout.
Season totals: Wayne 1-0. Kinnel has 6 tackles, and one punt return for 30 yards.

Garrett Taylor
6-1/188, Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 2 player in Virginia, No. 48 player nationally
This week:
Unfortunately Taylor will miss his senior season with a torn ACL. His team's season begins Sep. 6 against St. Stephen's & St. Agnes.
Season totals: St. Christopher's 0-0. Taylor will miss the entire 2014 season with a torn ACL.

Defensive Tackle
Darian Roseboro
6-4/283, Lincolnton (N.C.) High School
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 1 player in North Carolina, No. 42 player nationally
This week:
Roseboro is a do-it-all type of talent for his Lincolnton Wolves as the anchor of his team's defense and as a bruising running back in the "big bone" set. Lincolnton defeated South Point 14-13 behind Roseboro's 20 carries for 97 yards and two scores.
Season totals: Lincolnton 1-1.

Kicker
Andrew David
5-8/170, Massillon (Ohio) Washington
Rankings:
Two-star
This week:
Washington got off to a 1-0 start with a 37-30 victory over Perry. David went 1-for-1 and set a new career long with a 49 yard field goal.
Season totals: Washington 1-0. David is 1-for-1 on the season with a long of 49 yards.

Linebacker
Darrin Kirkland Jr.
6-1/233, Indianapolis Lawrence Central
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 1 player in Indiana, No. 167 player nationally
This week:
Kirkland Jr. was very productive from his linebacker spot tallying 17 tackles, four for for loss, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Despite stuffing the stat sheet Kirkland Jr.'s Lawrence Central squad fell 28-21 to Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius.
Season totals: Lawrence Central 0-2. Kirkland Jr. has 30 tackles, 6 TFLs, 1 PBU, 1 INT, 1 FR, and 1 QB hurry.

Offensive Line
Grant Newsome
6-7/280, Lawrenceville (N.J.) Lawrenceville Prep
Rankings:
Newsome's Big Red took on Steinert in a game-like scrimmage and came out on top 28-6. Newsome only played for a half and recorded six pancake blocks and did not allow a sack. His team's first official game is Sep. 20.
Season totals: Lawrenceville Prep 0-0. Newsome has 6 pancakes and allowed 0 sacks.

Jon Runyan Jr.
6-4/25, Philadelphia St. Joseph's
Rankings:
Three-star, No. 13 player in Pennsylvania
This week:
Runyan's Hawks edged out Mount Carmel (Ill.) 28-27 in a battle of top ranked prep schools. Runyan's squad churned out over 200 yards rushing and passing in the one-point victory.
Season totals: St. Joseph's 1-0.

Erik Swenson
6-5/300, Downers Grove (Ill.) Downers Grove South (2016)
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 2 player in Illinois, No. 70 player nationally
This week:
Swenson played a very dominating, clean game tallying 13 pancakes, giving up no sacks, and earning zero penalties. His team however lost 26-16 after a rain delay that lasted more than an hour.
Season totals: Downers Grove South 0-1. Swenson has 13 pancakes.

Quarterback
Alex Malzone
6-2/205, Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) Brother Rice
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 4 player in Michigan
This week:
Malzone went 20-for-34 for 363 yards, four touchdowns and an interception in a 40-34 win over Brother Rice (Ill.) during the Prep Kickoff Classic in Detroit.
Season totals: Brother Rice 1-0. Malzone is 20-for-34, 363 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT.

Messiah deWeaver
6-3/200, Trotwood (Ohio) Trotwood-Madison (2016)
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 9 player in Ohio, No. 210 player nationally
This week:
deWeaver went 9-for-15 for 109 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball twice for 15 yards, including a 10 yard score. deWeaver's Rams dominated Springfield 34-7 and his second half was shortened due to a running clock.
Season totals: Trotwood-Madison 1-0. deWeaver is 9-for-15, 109 yards, 1 TD, 15 rushing yards, 1 TD.

Running Back
Mike Weber
5-10/205, Detroit Cass Tech
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 2 player in Michigan, No. 104 player nationally
This week:
Cass Tech defeated Oak Park 27-26 during the Prep Kickoff Classic for their week one contest. Weber churned out 150 yards rushing on 23 carries and scored three times, including a 70 yard dash to the end zone.
Season totals: Cass Tech 1-0. Weber has 23 carries, 150 yards, 3 TDs.

Tight End
Chris Clark
6-5/253, Avon (Conn.) Avon Old Farms
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 2 player in Connecticut, No. 56 player nationally
This week:
Clark has to wait a couple more weeks before his Winged Beavers kickoff their 2014 season on Sep. 20 against Brunswick.
Season totals: Avon Old Farms 0-0.

Wide Receiver
Brian Cole
6-2/190, Saginaw (Mich.) Heritage
Rankings:
Four-star, No. 1 player in Michigan, No. 89 player nationally
This week:
Cole did it all for his Hawks in a 24-6 win over Arthur Hill. Cole carried the ball 11 times for 114 yards and a score, recorded two receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown, returned an interception 30 yards for a TD, tallied four tackles, recovered a fumble and even punted three times for 122 yards.
Season totals: Heritage 1-0. Cole has 11 carries, 114 yards, 1 TD, 2 rec, 56 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 DEF TD, 4 tackles, 1 FR.
