Jeff Byers Declared USC Today

USCFootball.com has learned that Jeff Byers, who is the No. 1 ranked center in the nation by Rivals.com, announced today that the University of Southern California will be his home for the next four to five years. Byers was a guest on Tom Lemming's chat session on ESPN.com and declared that his college choice was for the USC Trojans. Byers is the second 5-star recruit for USC in the 2004 class.

Byers like the tradition at USC and hoped to contribute to their continued success.

Last evening, his coach, John Poovey, seemed to hint it would be USC, but this morning we have learned in will indeed be the Trojans.

Jeff Byers will make it seven verbal commitments for this recruiting year. Three of them are rated with four-stars and with the Byers commitment, it will make two with five-stars.

It appears that the USC football staff is on the way to another outstanding recruiting class.
