Notre Dame Prep Coasts Past Butler-led Coastal

MILFORD, Del. -- Even the addition of McDonald's All-American Jackie Butler couldn't prevent Coastal Christian from dropping its opener at the War on the Shore on Saturday.

After getting in early foul trouble, Butler finished with 20 points, but Notre Dame Prep coasted to a 111-90 victory over the Hurricanes.

Butler, who signed with Tennessee this past week, picked up three fouls in the first half and found himself on the bench for most of the opening 20 minutes. The Crusaders took advantage, opening up a 38-15 lead with 5:50 to play.

Notre Dame's guard play was a big difference in the game, with energizer bunny Jamual Warren streaking his way to 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Guards Randy Jones and Cameron Tyler chipped in 11 points apiece.

Josh Jackson and Shawn James spearheaded the frontcourt play for the Crusaders. Jackson, who signed with the College of Charleston, scored 15 points and the bouncy James added 12 for the victors.

Butler's debut was complemented by a strong effort from junior forward Gino Smith. Smith, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound native of Milwaukee, added 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists for the Canes.
