Free Report: Kahlil Bell talks with BruinBlitz

The Bruins landed a running back with a very high ceiling in Kahlil Bell (6-0, 205, 4.55) from Kentfield (Calif.) Marin Catholic. UCLA gets a versatile player who was an all-league selection as both a running back and strong safety. Bell was also selected his league's MVP as a senior. His junior season was just as good as Bell was selected all-state underclassman and was regional Player of the Year in 2003.

Bell rushed for 2,300 yards and scored 31 touchdowns in 2004. As a safety, Bell racked up 70 tackles and five picks.

UCLA looks like they were ahead of the posse once again with their talent evaluations as they were the first to offer Bell. Cal, Idaho and Idaho State were also recruiting Bell.

"I committed to UCLA yesterday," Bell said. "It took me about a day think about it."

"You can't go wrong with UCLA," Bell said. "They are great academically and athletically you get to play on a national stage."

"When you get a degree from UCLA," Bell said. "You will be able to get a good job anywhere."

Some have likened Bell to a Malefou McKenzie type player. A guy who is a tough runner and catch the football out of the backfield. Bell's high school coach compares Bell to Marcus Allen.

Interesting enough both players played their college football at Bell's future archrival USC.

The scouting report on Bell is he has excellent game speed. He can cut on a dime and then go up field. He's a powerful runner with the ability to juke.

Bell is a very versatile athlete, besides playing both ways on the gridiron; he is also the starting point guard on the basketball team.

At the time of this interview Bell was getting on a bus to go to the Airport as his basketball team is going to participate in tournament in Hawai'i for five days.

Talk about being a roll.

"Yes, things are going great for me," Bell said. "Actually, I have had a great month."
