Johnson talking up the Canes
Bruce Johnson was a recruit flying under the radar until he committed to the Miami Hurricanes over the summer. At that point, he began to open up some people's eyes and could be the next in the long line of great Miami defensive backs. During the season he was contemplating taking visits to Auburn and Clemson, but is that still the case?MIAMI--Live Oak (Fla.) Suwanee defensive back
"Miami is the only school that I am looking at now," Johnson said. "I had thought about taking an official visit to a couple of other schools, but I knew I was going to Miami so I didn't want to take those visits if I knew I wasn't going to go there. Miami was really just the place for me all along and I never really thought about going any where else, I just wanted to take the visits."
The 6-foot-0, 180-pound Johnson is so firmly committed to the Canes that he is taking the opportunity of being around so many fellow prospects that he is talking to them about possibly becoming a Cane as well.
"I have been talking to Avery Atkins some lately," Johnson said. "I have been talking to him some before this week, but being around him all week I am really hoping to talk Miami up to him a good bit. He was pretty firm with Florida for a while, but he is starting to look around now, so I think there is a good chance we could turn him our way."
Johnson is ranked as the nation's No. 20 cornerback prospect and the No. 28 player in the Sunshine State. He is fully qualified with a 3.0 GPA and a 17 ACT score.
