Miami NIKE Camp Top 20 SPARQ Ratings

The SPARQ Rating*, a formula used to determine the overall athleticism of a player, was first introduced to the public one year ago at the 2004 NIKE Camp in Miami.

One year later it has captured the attention of athletes, coaches and fans around the country and has players at every NIKE Camp or Combine striving to achieve the highest rating possible.

On Sunday over 320 athletes camped and competed in Miami, and in the end the race for the SPARQ Rating title came down to four players the finished within one point of each.

Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough QB Jarred Fayson took home the title at 91.63, narrowly edging out Hollywood (Fla.) Parkway Academy DB Kevin Holloway (91.37), Cooper City DB Ricky Neaves (91.26) and Sanford (Fla.) Seminole DT Trevis Hodges (90.62).

*Taking the standard measurements of the football combine, the SPARQ Rating weighs and combines the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, vertical jump and bench press into a single number that measures an athlete's overall athleticism. Thus, football players can track the progress of their training, through occasional tests, and compare SPARQ Ratings with teammates, training partners and competitors.
