One of the main priorities of the Blue Demons Nation staff had with the joining of Rivals.com is to keep the reputation it has earned as the place to go to get the best coverage of DePaul Men's basketball recruiting. So one of the first orders of business was to create the Blue Demons Nation Recruiting Board.
The Board lists all players that Blue Demons Nation believes are being targeted by the DePaul staff. The recruiting game is very much and up and down business, with players changing their list every other week. It is our mission to keep up on who is interested in DePaul and provide to you the best assessment of where we stand with each recruit.
Important: This is Blue Demons Nation's staff thoughts on who DePaul
is pursuing. This is by no means the official recruit board of Jerry Wainwright
The following chart lists each position, with the percentages in parenthesis
our prediction of the chance that particular player will sign with DePaul
on National Signing Day.
With Cliff Clinkscales, Sammy Mejia, and Jabari Currie
and 2006 recruit combo Will Walker all able to play the point, the point guard position is not one of great need for the Blue Demons. DePaul is still heavily interested in Devan Bawinkel, but like his Wolves teammate, Bawinkel is a versatile player, who will likely end up at the two guard.
With Sammy Mejia, Draelon Burns, Rashad Woods, Jabari
Currie and Karron Clarke all able to play the shooting guard, and future Blue Demon Will Walker and potential Blue Demon Devan Bawinkel also able to slide over to the two, this is not a position of great need for DePaul in 2006. If a sharpshooter was to
become available, and expressed interest in DePaul, then perhaps one
of the scholarships would go towards an off guard.
Since Keith Butler decided to spend the next two years with DePaul, the center position has become less of a need than it was a few weeks back. Getting a top level big man will be easier in the 2007 class, so it is not likely that DePaul will press to land a 2006 big man.
The Blue Demons is filled with players who can play some
minutes at the three, but that is not stopping Jerry Wainwright from
looking for a versatile player who can play some minutes at other positions
DePaul is looking to find the most value with their two remaining scholarships, and as it currently stands, the power forward position does not offer the value needed. If a player steps up during the prep season, and it looks like the Blue Demons may have a scholarship opening up in the spring, this may be the position they target.
