Alexander taking visits

Arkansas is expecting around 20 visitors this weekend, and one of the top prospects expected to be in attendance is Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower safety Mister Alexander.

Alexander checked in at 6-foot-2, 183 pounds at the Rivals.com Houston Junior Day, and he is regarded as the No. 43 overall prospect in the Lone Star State. Alexander returned from his first official visit, which was to Washington State, on Sunday. WSU assistant Leon Burtnett is recruiting Alexander for the Cougars.

"It went pretty good," Alexander said. "I liked hanging out with the coaches and the players at the restaurant."

Friday, Alexander is set to head to the hills of Fayetteville (Ark.) to check out the Razorbacks. He is being recruited to Arkansas by assistant coach James Shibest.

"I like coach Shibest. He's been recruiting me," Alexander said. "I've never been to Arkansas. I like coach Shibest a lot. He's from MacArthur, and I'm from Eisenhower, so we're pretty much from the same place."

Before he heads to Arkansas, UA coaches will visit him for an in-home.

"He and the head coach are going to come on Tuesday. He's going to come for a visit on Tuesday," he said.

The next weekend (Jan. 27), Alexander was scheduled to visit Arizona State. Alexander has changed that and will instead head to Florida State, instead. Arizona State is not eliminated, according to Alexander.

"I'm just not going to visit [Arizona State]," he said. "I always liked [FSU] since I was a kid."

Arizona State, Washington State and Arkansas have each offered Alexander a scholarship. However, if Florida State offers him, it could seal the deal and put Alexander in Tallahassee (Fla.) the next four or five years.

As for his upcoming trip to Arkansas, Alexander does not know what to expect. Basically, Shibest and what he hears about the fan support, has him intrigued.

"They tell me it's like an NFL team because they don't have an NFL team. Everybody in the state is behind them," he said.

Alexander has a 235-pound bench press max and a 435-pound squat. He has been timed in 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
