Fanuzzi fighting back from injury

Regardless of injury, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound San Antonio (Texas) Churchill quarterback Nick Fanuzzi is already being regarded as one of the top players in the state for the 2007 class.

Only playing four games, the talented Fanuzzi injured his shoulder and had to sit out the rest of the season. That has motivated the young man to put in tons of rehab and time in getting back to 100 percent.

One thing is certain - Fanuzzi is one motivated player.

"The shoulder is a lot better," Fanuzzi said. "I'm almost through with my rehab and pretty much close to 100 percent. It was off of a late hit and I ended up tearing my rotator cuff. That ended it right there."

"So that's just one reason why I'm ready to get going next year."

No offers have come his way yet, but there is plenty of mail to signify a lot of college interest.

"I'm getting tons of mail on a daily basis right now," Fanuzzi said. "Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas, Iowa, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Arizona, Boston College, Nebraska, Kansas, and Miami are all sending me stuff. Basically, they all write that I need to send them my film and go to camps so they can see how I'm progressing."

Fanuzzi says that he'll take in Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Miami, and Alabama camps this summer for starters.

"I'm going to make it to a NIKE Training Camp and I was also invited to the U.S. Army All-American junior combine," he said. "I wasn't able to go with my injury, but I went to the game and got as involved as I could."

Fanuzzi also has the talent running through the family. His father, Mike Fanuzzi, was a top college quarterback at Kentucky.
