Arizona loses another guard

Get the inside scoop on your favorite team:

TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona guard Jawann McClellan had season-ending surgery Thursday to repair a ligament in his left wrist.

The operation, announced minutes before the Wildcats' game against Stanford, removed a guard from the roster for the second time in two days. Chris Rodgers, who started 13 of 16 games, was dismissed from the squad Wednesday.

McClellan, a sophomore, started ahead of Rodgers on Saturday at Oregon, but hurt his wrist near the end of the first half. Marcus Williams, a 6-foot-7 freshman, started in the backcourt against Stanford.

The 6-4 McClellan was academically ineligible until Jan. 11. He had eight points and three rebounds in two games.
