Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast cornerback Jamire Williams is one of the top defensive back prospects in the Sunshine State's class of 2007, and he currently has several offers to his credit.

"Some of the schools I can think of off the top of my head are South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, USF and UCF," the 6-foot, 180-pound Williams said. "I also like Auburn, Clemson and Georgia Tech."

The South Carolina Gamecocks are one of Williams' most recent offers, and they have vaulted up his list as a result.

"Coach Steve Spurrier Jr. came by the school, and he called me. He told me he thinks I can fit right in on their defense and make an early impact. I like that they're in the SEC, and they're building some new facilities."

The Tennessee Vols also have Williams' attention.

"They're in the SEC, too, and their coaches came to see me. They said they think I could play right away, and they told my mama that they really need me up there."

Williams, who runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.4-second range, has a relationship with multiple Clemson players.

"I'm good friends with Brandon (Croley) and Paul (Muse) at Clemson. They said they need another DB like me. Coach (Dabo) Swinney is recruiting me for them."

USF and UCF round out the list of schools Williams commented on.

"Both of them say they like me a lot, and that I can make an early impact at either school. If I went to USF, I could stick with my friend Jason Sherman who's going there."

Williams, who racked up 55 tackles and four interceptions as a junior, knows what he's looking for in a school.

"Academics, good coaches, a good defensive system and a good football program. I'll take care of the rest."

Two SEC teams currently stand out the most to Williams.

"South Carolina and Tennessee are at the top. I won't make my decision until close to signing day."
