Piqua, Ohio, running back Brandon Saine does everything fast. So when the four-star Riavls100 running back was invited to play in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl, it didn't take him long to say yes.

"I was surprised, but also very excited," said Saine, who will play running back for the East squad in the game that will be played Jan. 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. "I've never been invited to play in anything like this before. It was a big, big honor. I am definitely pleased with the recognition."

Five facts about Brandon Saine
His sports hero: Jesse Owens
Won state track championships in the 100-meter and 400-meter dashes as a junior.
His favorite video game: NCAA 2007.
Biggest sports dream: To play in the NFL.
Grew up a Michigan fan, but is now a Buckeye commitment.
Saine, the nation's No. 64 player overall and No. 2 player in Ohio, has never been to Florida and he has never played on national television. He'll get to kill two birds with one stone in the All-American game that is also going to be carried live on ESPNU.

"I've never been to Florida," Saine said. "I'm going to just be excited to be out of Ohio, especially in January. I can't wait to see what it's like down there in Florida."

Saine said he's going to have something to show the West team.

"I play physical, and I like to use my speed and try to get to the corner," Saine said. "I worked hard to get to where I'm at now. Everybody thought I was a speed back only, but I've worked hard to prove to people that I can run between the tackles. That's where I improved the most as a senior."

Saine's senior season continues this week in the second round of the state playoffs. Saine committed to Ohio State in May.

"I wanted to get the process finished early," Saine said. "I knew I wanted to go to Ohio State since it was a great school. I liked how it was close, and I met all the coaches and they're great. Ohio State is just a great school and a great situation for me."

Saine hopefully will get a chance to play special teams in the All-American Bowl. He is likely to get a strong look there early on in Columbus.

"I'll play wherever I can," he said. "That'd be great if I could get the ball in my hands on punts or kickoffs. It'll be a chance for me to show everybody what football is like in Ohio."
