Spencer piling up postseason honors

By virtue of a tremendous senior year, Boilermaker senior defensive end Anthony Spencer has racked up an impressive array of postseason honors.

Most recently, the fifth-year senior was named a third-team All-American by the Associated Press following a season in which he made 86 tackles, with 10.5 sacks and an NCAA-best 26.5 tackles for loss, with six pass breakups and five forced fumbles.

Spencer has also been named a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation and Rivals.com. And, he was a finalist for the Ted Hendricks Award, presented annually to the nation's top defensive end.

Purdue's 2006 MVP, Spencer was named first-team All-Big Ten.

Spencer said he's not paid too much attention to the honors bestowed upon him.

"It's more for my mom, really," he joked.
