Johnson commits to USC

Muskegon (Mich.) five-star standout Ronald Johnson made it suspenseful, delaying his decision for an hour and a half and avoiding reporters during the final week of his recruitment. On Sunday, he announced he would spend the next few years of his life at USC.

Johnson, originally slated to announce his decision at 2:00 from his church, delayed his decision for an hour and a half. It wasn't until 4:00 that he finally made his way to the podium, selecting the USC shirt over four others at the podium.

Johnson was long considered a Michigan lean, favored over Michigan State, Florida, Ohio State and USC. The situation seemed to turn this week, however, and not in U-M's favor.

Ironically, Michigan received a commitment from a California cornerback - Long Beach (Calif.) Poly standout Donovan Warren - just days before Southern California raided one of Michigan's finest. Warren, Rivals.com's No. 25 player overall, was one of the top players at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio in early January.
