Lucky upgraded to fair condition

Nebraska running back Marlon Lucky's status is improving according to his family in an official statement released Tuesday afternoon by the UNL Athletic Department.

Lucky has been hospitalized at BryanLGH West since Sunday evening due to a medical emergency and he was just released from intensive care on Tuesday.

"Marlon's condition continues to improve," his family said. "He has been removed from the intensive care unit and his condition has been upgraded to fair.

"We would like to make it clear that Marlon's medical emergency did not come about as a result of the use of alcohol or any illicit drugs. We are very appreciative of the thoughts and prayers for Marlon during this time."

NU head coach Bill Callahan said the last few days have been tough on everyone associated with the Nebraska football program.

Callahan said Lucky and his family continue to have the full support of everybody from within the Nebraska Athletic Department.

"I have spent time with both Marlon and his family at the hospital over the past couple days," Callahan said. "Marlon knows that he has the full support of our football team, coaches and entire athletic department.

"We want to thank everyone for respecting the privacy of Marlon and his family."
