McRoberts taken by Portland

Former Duke standout Josh McRoberts fell out of the first round of the NBA Draft Thursday night, but still had his life long dream fulfilled when the Portland Trailblazers selected him with the seventh pick in the second round, 37th overall.

The selection reunites McRoberts with his old AAU teammate and high school foe, Greg Oden, who Portland drafted first overall to begin the draft.

McRoberts passed on the NBA after his senior year of high school to attend Duke, and again bypassed the league last year when he chose to return to Duke for his sophomore season.

That season didn't go exactly as the 6-10 forward would have liked, but he still put up 13.0 points and 7.9 rebounds to help the Blue Devils to a sixth seed in the NCAA Tournament.

McRoberts was the seventh ACC player selected Thursday night, following North Carolina's Brandan Wright (8th), Georgia Tech's Thaddeus Young (12th), Florida State's Al Thornton (14th), Boston College's Sean Williams (17th), Georgia Tech's Javaris Crittenton (19th), and Boston College's Jared Dudley (22nd).

The Trailblazers won the NBA Draft Lottery after finishing the 2006-07 season 32-50, 13th in the powerful Western Conference.
