Beasley named Big 12 Player of the Week
Michael Beasley (Kansas State) and Blake Griffin (Oklahoma) have been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 7 - 13 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. It is fourth weekly honor (two player, two rookie) for Beasley and the second for Griffin.

Beasley averaged 28.5 points and 10.5 rebounds to lead Kansas State to wins over Savannah State (85-25) and Oklahoma (84-82). The freshman forward has posted double-doubles in 14 of 15 games this season after recording two last week. He began with 25 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks versus Savannah State. He followed that effort with 32 points and 11 boards against OU, including the game-winning basket with 2.3 seconds remaining to give the Wildcats their first win in Norman since 1996. In two contests, Beasley combined to shoot 22-of-29 (.759) from the floor, while hitting 13-of-16 (.813) shots from the free throw line. He has six 30-point outings this season, one behind the KSU single-season record.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Blake Griffin, Oklahoma, F, Fr., 6-10, 243, Oklahoma City, Okla./Oklahoma Christian School
Griffin recorded 26.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game for the Sooners in a 1-1 week. The freshman forward had 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists in an 81-57 win over Mount St. Mary's. He then finished with a career-high 27 points, 14 boards and two steals in the loss to Kansas State for his sixth double-double of the season. He shot 70.8 percent (17-of-24) from the field in two outings and 61.3 percent (19-of-31) from the free throw line. Griffin has scored in double digits in nine straight contests and is averaging 23.7 points, 10.0 rebounds and a .713 shooting percentage over his last three games. He ranks second in the Big 12 in field goal percentage (.610), third in rebounds (9.1) and ninth in points (15.4) this season.
