Hickson hasn't cooled off since fast start

The Rivals.com Five-Star Freshman Tracker is a look at how the top players in the Class of 2007 Rivals150 are faring in college. It will be updated each Tuesday throughout basketball season.

This Week's Featured Five-Star Freshman

North Carolina State's J.J. Hickson won the first Rivals.com Freshman of the Week Award this season, and he hasn't looked back.

Hickson, a 6-foot-9 forward, leads the ACC in shooting percentage (60.4 percent) in addition to averaging 15 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. He's currently riding a streak of four consecutive double-doubles.

Hickson is tough to handle in the low post, and he can step out and face the basket. And for those times when he's not shooting the ball well, which fortunately for the Wolfpack hasn't been that often, he can get a rebound and get an easy basket. His rebounding total is seventh among all freshmen in the country, and second in the ACC to North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough.
