Long helps draft status; Hart, Manningham struggle
Michigan will be well represented in this year's NFL draft, but all wasn't rosy for former Wolverines this weekend. Here's how a few Wolverines fared in the NFL Combine according to Frank Coyle of draftinsiders.com in a special to Rivals.com.
According to Coyle, Hart was one who hurt his cause Sunday. "This short tailback ran poorly with 4.67 and 4.69 times in the 40 [on Sunday]. His Michigan pro day will be critical to his draft status," wrote Coyle. "He also had a subpar 28-inch vertical leap and added 23 reps in the lifting."
Hart measured in at 5-8 7/8.
Coyle also put Manningham in the five who hurt his cause Sunday. "This junior wideout failed to impress," he wrote. "He ran disappointing 4.59 and 4.6 times that may cost him a first-round grade. He also did only 16 reps and an average 32-inch vertical leap. He needs a strong showing at pro day as well."
Manningham measured 5-11 3/4 and 181 pounds.
Coyle placed long in the five who helped their stock Saturday.
"The top offensive lineman in this year's class solidified a top 5-10 selection," wrote Coyle. "He came in at 6-7 and 313 pounds, and did a combine best (thus far) 37 reps at 225 lbs. He ran a 5.17 and 5.27."
Long also jumped 27 1/2 inches in the vertical leap.
In other news, quarterback Chad Henne measured in at 6-2 7/8, 235 pounds and clocked a 4.9 40 yard dash wide receiver Adrian Arrington measured 6-2 7/8, 203 pounds but didn't run or lift linebacker Shawn Crable measured 6-4, 245 pounds. Linebackers go through workouts tomorrow.
