Stroughter granted medical hardship

The Pac-10 Conference announced Friday that Oregon State senior wide receiver Sammie Stroughter has been granted a medical hardship for 2007, and will be eligible for the 2008 season.

Stroughter, who was expected to be one of the top receiving and punt return specialists in the nation last year, suffered through personal issues that plagued him much of Fall camp. When he finally did return to the field, he only played in parts of three games before being sidelined with a kidney injury for the remainder of the year.

Stroughter will look to regain his 2006 form in 2008, when he caught 74 passes totalling 1,293 yards. He also scored 3 touchdowns on punt returns in 2006, including a memorable 70 yarder against USC that helped Oregon State topple the Trojans and end their 27 game Pac-10 winning streak.

BeaverBlitz.com will have much more on Stroughter's return during spring practice which kicks off on March 31. Look for daily practice reports and photos throughout the month of April, culminating in the Spring Game on May 3rd.
