FSU's Rose declared academically ineligible
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State offensive tackle Daron Rose has been declared academically ineligible for the 2008 season, the Tampa Tribune reported Wednesday.
Rose's mother, Ann Miller, told the newspaper that the former four-star prospect would transfer to a junior college. Miller added that Rose plans to return to Florida State after regaining his eligibility.
"He will just have to dig down and get refocused on his grades," Miller told the Tribune. "He'll be back at Florida State."
Rose started 11 games at left tackle last season and recorded 28 knockdowns in 764 plays.
The 6-foot-5, 284-pound Rose was ranked as the No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 30 overall prospect by Rivals.com when he signed with Florida State out of Tampa Jefferson High in the spring of 2006.
Rose becomes the second former four-star player to exit the Seminoles' roster in the last week. Florida State announced Monday that linebacker Marcus Ball had been released from his scholarship.
