All in the Family
It turns out that the newest member of the Penn State football family, was already a part of the family.
Portsmouth (Ohio) two-way lineman Nate Cadogan, the younger brother of starting left tackle Gerald Cadogan, made his verbal commitment to the Nittany Lions official on Friday afternoon after meeting with head coach Joe Paterno.
"Quite frankly, Joe is a smooth talker, but today I officially committed to Penn State," he said. "It was long, but overall just knowing this program, and being around these people, it was a pretty good decision that I made."
Cadogan becomes the 16th member of the Nittany Lions' class of 2009, and is the first verbal commitment since wide receiver Christian Kuntz on July 4. He was recruited for the offensive side of the ball, and is the sixth offensive lineman to make a commitment in the class.
He had previously received offers from Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Akron, Bowling Green, Marshall, Miami (Ohio) and Ohio. His decision came down to the Nittany Lions and Boilermakers.
He is rated as the No. 31 defensive end in the nation by Rivals.com, and is a three-star prospect.
BWI will have more on this breaking story, including a video interview with Cadogan.
