Richt Reduces Boling's Suspension

Georgia coach Mark Richt announced Thursday that Clint Boling's two-game suspension has been reduced to one.

Richt said the suspension was reduced after DUI charges were reduced to misdemeanor reckless driving.

"With the change in the charges and the attitude that Clint has demonstrated I have reevaluated his situation and decided on the one-game suspension as a fair penalty," said Richt. "Clint has been remorseful and pro-active in handling all his responsibilities in a mature manner with a good attitude. He's learned a strong lesson that I'm sure will serve him well from here on."

Boling started 11 of 13 games for the Bulldogs as a freshman and was slated to start the year at left guard before Richt suspended him for two games following his arrest for DUI.

The Athletic Association's conduct code calls for an automatic suspension but misdemeanor offenses are left up to the coaches.

Boling, 19, was stopped in May for leaving the highway and improper lane change without using a turn signal. He refused to take a breathalyzer.

Last week, Richt announced that fellow offensive linemen Justin Anderson and Trinton Sturdivant would not miss any games following charges of simple battery by a pregnant woman.

NOTE: Richt also announced that punter Brian Mimbs has been awarded a scholarship.
