Texas, OU on top of Johnson's early list

Midlothian, Texas receiver Eddie Johnson (6-3, 194) became one of the hottest names of 2010 with standout performances on the camp circuit this summer.

Oklahoma, Texas, and Baylor were all stops this summer and coaches have not forgotten. Baylor offered Johnson this fall, and Arizona and SMU have followed suit. Oklahoma and Texas have not offered, but both have showed considerable interest and are at the top of his list.

"Right now Texas and Oklahoma are my main two colleges," said Johnson. "Both coaches say I'm going to get an offer."

The Midlothian standout has already grown familiar with coaches from both schools. He's already been on both campuses. And he's gotten a positive vibe at both places. If both Texas and Oklahoma do offer, Johnson expects to face a tough decision.

"If it comes around I'm going to grab it. It's Texas. What more can you say," said Johnson. "If Oklahoma does the same thing I'll take it. It just depends on which comes first and I'll base my decision on if I would de-commit and go to this school or stay through my senior year."

While he has already been to both he plans to visit both campuses in the near future.

"My coach told me I'm going to get an invite from Texas for their junior day and I'm going to go to Oklahoma's junior day on the 24th," said Johnson. "I've got to find out when Baylor's Junior Day is and get that one lined up."

Texas and Oklahoma are at the top of his list, but Baylor has also made a strong impression on the 2010 prospect.

"Baylor offered me and I'm keeping that in the hold because you never know what can happen. So I'm keeping them right there too," said Johnson.

"Baylor is a good school. I like it too. It's close to home and they're building up a good team, a championship team. They've got a nice quarterback and they're bringing in a nice running back and a nice offensive line and good defensive line. Baylor's going to be strong in a couple of years."

Johnson caught 47 passes for 565 yards and three touchdowns and was named second-team all-District 16-4A. He is also a standout member of Midlothian's basketball team.
