Greene goes Cardinal & Gold
Kevin Greene came into this weekend's official visit to USC with two schools on his mind.San Francisco (Calif.) defensive end
But before flying back to the Bay Area, Greene had cleared his mind of any doubt about the Trojans.
By Monday morning, Greene would be a Trojan or a Washington State Cougar.
At breakfast this morning, Greene and his family sat down with Pete Carroll to discuss his college future.
"Usually coaches talk to the parents and the student-athlete in their office," said Greene. "This was kind of different. We went to a beautiful restaurant right by the beach.
"We all ate breakfast, and with my family there, he said, 'This is the part of the trip where we talk about the thing you liked and didn't like about USC'.
"I said, 'Coach, from the moment I stepped on campus, I was overwhelmed'. I looked right at him and said, 'Coach Carroll, this is where I want to be. I want to commit'. He was fired up man. So I did it, I committed."
Kevin Greene becomes commitment No. 18 in USC's class of 2009. In his first year of football as a junior, Greene had 17 sacks. This season, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end had 28 sacks.
Greene is slated to play defensive end at USC next fall, with an emphasis on learning the Trojans' Elephant position, which has become a staple in the Trojans' scheme made popular by Clay Matthews Jr. and Brian Cushing.
Greene chooses USC over scholarship offers from UCLA, Oregon, Kansas, Colorado, Washington State, Arizona and Arizona State.
