Redick, Randolph, and Williams named POYs

Recruits-Charity-01The post season awards keep coming in for Shavlik Randolph, Shelden Williams and JJ Redick. The talented trio have all been named Gatorade State Player of the Year for North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Virginia respectively.

Redick, who led Cave Spring to their first ever state title, has been called the premiere shooter in high school basketball in the last five years. After committing to Duke in his sophomore season the 6'4 sharpshooter would average close to 28 points over his final two seasons, culminating in a 43 point barrage in his final game despite an injured foot.

Williams, who has been through a number of tough and well documented off the court issues, was given the Oklahoma honor. The 6'9, 245lbs big forward averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds before his senior season was cut short.

In North Carolina there was little drama as Shavlik Randolph was honored as the state's best player. Randolph averaged 28.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 4.2 blocks per contest during a senior season that saw him end one of the most publicized recruiting processes ever when he picked Duke over North Carolina, Florida, and NC State.

Minnesota honored Duke recruit Kris Humphries as that state's top prep player.
