Chicago's Marcus Arnold Signs

Marcus Arnold, a skilled 6-8, 225 pound power/combination forward from Morgan Park H.S. in Chicago, IL, who recently achieved a qualifying test score has signed with Illinois State.

Arnold took an official visit to Illinois State in March. Other schools that he was considering included Memphis, Southern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago, New Mexico, James Madison, Miami (FL), Bowling Green, Tulane and Ball State.

Arnold averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for Morgan Park as a senior this past season. He was named all-conference, all-city and all-area honorable mention. Morgan Park finished third in the conference and advanced to the third round of the City Championship.

Arnold will re-join Illinois Fire AAU teammate Chris Burras from Leo High School who signed with ISU earlier this month.

Arnold's uncle, Kenny, played basketball at Iowa and will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame this coming Saturday (April 27, 2002) at Illinois State.
