Wharton, NJ - Running back Tony Jones of Ramsey (N.J) Don Bosco Prep was named the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 26.

Jones led his team to a 35-24 win over Prattville High School (Ala.) on Friday evening. He carried the ball 22 times for 222 yards and three touchdowns.

Mike Farrell of Rivals.com says of Jones, "He's running with more determination than ever his senior year and has become more physical. He has made himself hard to bring down on first contact."

Jones' performance was even more extraordinary because of the national implications of the Ironmen's victory over the Lions. Don Bosco was ranked No. 10 by RivalsHigh.com entering the weekend's action can now make a case for as the top team in the Eastern United States. On Sept. 12, the Ironmen defeated De La Salle High School (Concord, Calif.), 30-6.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Player of the Week was designed to recognize the nation's top performance of the week. The winner will be announced each Monday throughout the season.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the premier high school football game in the country, annually setting new attendance records every January at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The game, which features the best high school football players in the nation, has helped launch the careers of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Adrian Peterson, Tim Tebow and many other college and NFL stars since the first game in 2001.

The game also crowns the U.S. Army Player of the Year during Bowl Week in San Antonio.
