Brown leaves K-State

After playing three years in Manhattan, former Hazelwood (Mo.) West High School standout Lamark Brown has left the Kansas State football team. The 6-foot-3 senior to be confirmed his impending transfer with GoPowercat.com by phone on Thursday and leaves a somewhat significant hole in the team's 2010 depth chart.

Brown said he has already been granted a release from his scholarship agreement and cited undisclosed personal reasons as the driving factor behind his decision to not rejoin the team in the spring.

"It all really happened last week," he said. "It's just personal stuff that came up."

With a redshirt season still in his pocket, Brown said he would seek to use the remainder of his football eligibility at another Division I school, but also stated that, as of now, he has not started the process of searching for a new place to play.

He will have two years to play one season at whichever institution he chooses.

In his three years as a Wildcat, Brown recorded 45 catches for 426 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air. In his brief stint as a tailback in 2008, he rushed for 412 yards and five touchdowns.

Overall, Brown appeared in 29 games in a K-State uniform.
