The Good: Richard is a fine competitor who made all the line calls while starting 37 games over his career. He is quick on the snap and gets into sound positioning consistently. He has good footwork, which allows him to effectively trap and pull within a short area. He is a finesse blocker on the inside. He has the ability to initially control a defender and finish well. He shows good alertness and awareness for blitzes and stunts, but only adequate footwork.
The Bad: With only marginal size and athleticism, he catches too many blocks and can be walked back to the passer by NFL-caliber interior defenders when they bull rush. He breaks down poorly on the outside and struggles blocking athletic defenders. He needs to be fundamentally sound with his technique to compensate for marginal size and athletic ability in the pivot.
