Detroit Martin Luther King four-star cornerback Ambry Thomas announced via Twitter that he has committed to Michigan. The 5-11, 165-pounder released a video outlining his final top group and at the end, U-M was the choice.

He and his cousin and fellow Michigan pledge, Detroit Cass Tech safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell, will almost certainly have their recruiting hats on this weekend to make a final push to perhaps another Detroiter and Michigan lean, Cass Tech five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones. Kelly-Powell and Peoples-Jones got the the best of Thomas twice on the field in 2016 but the three are close. Both programs recently won a state championship — Cass in Division I and King in Division II - and now two thirds of the Detroit trio is on board at Michigan and all three could end up chasing more titles together at U-M depending on what happens with Peoples-Jones.

Thomas had been feeling Michigan for some time now but people close to Michigan State's program held out hope that he might still end up in East Lansing. The No. 17 cornerback and No. 178 overall prospect in the nation spurned the Spartans for Michigan and also brushed away offers from Arizona, Auburn, Florida, Iowa, LSU, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, UCLA, USC, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, among others.

The speedy DB also shined on offense and in the return game throughout his prep career and that will be something to pay attention to once he arrives on campus in Ann Arbor, which will happen in just a few short weeks with Thomas graduating and enrolling early at U-M. He and Kelly-Powell will both be officially visiting Michigan this weekend and will be working hard on Peoples-Jones.
