Illinois (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten)

Illinois lost at No. 15 Nebraska, 31-16 … The Illini led 13-10 at halftime, but were outscored 21-3 in the second half … Fifth-year senior quarterback Wes Lunt had a sub-par day, completing just 13 of 22 passes for 133 yards and no touchdowns … Illinois won the turnover battle, 2-0.

Indiana (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten)

Indiana defeated No. 17 Michigan State, 24-21, in an overtime thriller Saturday night … Junior running back Devine Redding rushed for 100 yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry … That was the Hoosiers’ first win over Michigan State since 2006 … Indiana missed a field goal in its overtime possession, but a leaping penalty against the Spartans gave the Hoosiers a second opportunity, which led to the game-winning kick.

Iowa (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten)

Iowa was upset at home by Northwestern, 38-31 … Fifth-year senior receiver Riley McCarron caught eight passes for 78 yards and a touchdown … Redshirt junior linebacker Josey Jewell led the Iowa defense with 16 tackles … The Hawkeye offense only racked up 283 total yards.

Maryland (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten)

Maryland destroyed Purdue in impressive fashion on Saturday, 50-7 … Sophomore running back Ty Johnson had an amazing day on the ground, rushing for 204 yards and two touchdowns, while averaging 29.1 yards per carry … The Terps had the game in hand by halftime, leading 29-0 … Maryland’s defense held Purdue to just 10 rushing yards.

No. 17 Michigan State (2-2, 0-2 Big Ten)

No. 17 Michigan State dropped an overtime heartbreaker at Indiana, 24-21 … The Spartans outgained the Hoosiers by one yard, 438-437 … Senior receiver R.J. Shelton hauled in 141 receiving yards, averaging 20.1 yards per catch … Standout junior defensive lineman Malik McDowell was ejected for targeting late in the fourth quarter.

Minnesota (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten)

Minnesota fell in overtime at Penn State, 29-26 … Redshirt sophomore running back Rodney Smith rushed for 104 yards, while sophomore Shannon Brooks ran for 100 … Redshirt junior receiver Brian Smith hauled in seven passes for 101 yards … The Gophers kicked a field goal in their sole overtime possession, but the defense then gave up a game-winning, 25-yard touchdown run to Penn State sophomore running back Saquon Barkley.

No. 15 Nebraska (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten)

No. 15 Nebraska defeated Illinois, 31-16, in a game that was closer than the final score suggests … Senior running back Terrell Newby had an outstanding day on the ground, rushing for 140 yards and two touchdowns … The Cornhuskers outscored the Illini 21-0 in the fourth quarter … Nebraska outgained Illinois, 423-270.

Northwestern (2-3, 1-1 Big Ten)

Northwestern picked up its first conference victory, winning at Iowa, 38-31 … Redshirt sophomore quarterback Clayton Thorson only threw for 164 yards, but he tossed three touchdown passes to fifth-year senior Austin Carr … Junior running back Justin Jackson ran for 171 yards and averaged 6.6 yards per carry … Fifth-year senior defensive lineman Ifeadi Odenigbo recorded four sacks for the Wildcat defense.

No. 2 Ohio State (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten)

No. 2 Ohio State demolished Rutgers, 58-0 … Redshirt junior quarterback J.T. Barrett completed 21 of 29 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns … Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber compiled 144 yards on the ground, while freshman DeMario McCall ran for 85 … The Buckeyes outgained the Scarlet Knights, 669-116.

Penn State (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten)

Penn State picked up a much-needed win, defeating Minnesota, 29-26, in overtime … Redshirt sophomore quarterback Trace McSorley threw for 335 yards and rushed for another 73 … Junior receiver Chris Godwin racked up 97 yards through the air, while redshirt freshman Irvin Charles hauled in 80 on just one reception … Junior safety Marcus Allen led the defense with 22 tackles, more than double the stop total of anybody else in the game.

Purdue (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten)

Purdue was blown out at Maryland, 50-7 … Sophomore running back Markell Jones was held to 23 yards on 12 carries … Redshirt sophomore quarterback David Blough only completed 18 of 41 passes for 132 yards … The Boilermakers were held to 0.4 yards per carry on 27 attempts.

Rutgers (2-3, 0-2 Big Ten)

Rutgers was demolished at No. 2 Ohio State, 58-0 … Redshirt junior quarterback Chris Laviano completed only three of 12 passes for 33 yards … Redshirt freshman receiver Jawuan Harris hauled in three catches and was actually the only Scarlet Knight to record a reception on the day … Senior safety Anthony Cioffi was able to intercept one of OSU junior quarterback J.T. Barrett’s passes.

No. 8 Wisconsin (4-1, 1-1 Big Ten)

No. 8 Wisconsin lost a tightly-contested battle at No. 4 Michigan, 14-7 … In his second career start, redshirt freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook completed just nine of 25 passes with three interceptions … The Badgers held the Wolverines to 3 of 15 on third-down conversions … The loss was Wisconsin’s first in an away game since Oct. 4, 2014, when it lost at Northwestern, 20-14.
