Illinois outlasted Southern Illinois 42-34 … Fifth-year senior quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase threw for a career-best 416 yards-including 340 yards in the first half-and two touchdowns against one interception on 28-of-36 passing (77.8 percent) … Redshirt sophomore running back Josh Ferguson accounted for 152-total yards from scrimmage and caught a touchdown pass … Senior wide receiver Ryan Lankford grabbed six passes for 115 yards (19.2 yards per reception) … Senior linebacker Jonathan Brown led the Illini defense with nine tackles.
Indiana (1-0, 0-0)
Indiana decimated Indiana State 73-35 … Sophomore quarterback Nate Sudfeld completed 12-of-17 passes (70.6 percent) for 219 yards and four touchdowns … Fifth-year senior tight end Ted Bolser caught six passes for 78 yards (13.0 yards per reception) and two scores … IU gained more than 300 yards both through the air and on the ground for the first time in program history … The Hoosiers' 73 points scored are the second most in school history, and their 632 yards of total offense rank third most all-time for the program.

Iowa was stunned by Northern Illinois 30-27 after a last-minute 36-yard NIU field goal … Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jake Rudock passed for 256 yards and a score against two picks on 21-of-37 passing (56.8 percent) … Redshirt sophomore running back Mark Weisman bullied his way for 100 rushing yards on 20 carries (5.0 yards per carry) … Senior linebacker Christian Kirksey tallied 14 tackles, and forced and recovered a fumble … Dating back to 2010, UI has dropped 10 of its last 13 games decided by three points or less.
Michigan State (1-0, 0-0)
Michigan State's offensive struggles from a year ago resurfaced during a 26-13 win over Western Michigan … Fifth-year senior quarterback Andrew Maxwell managed just 74 yards on 11-of-21 passing (52.4 percent), and redshirt sophomore Connor Cook hit just 6-of-16 receivers (37.5 percent) for 42 yards … Redshirt junior running back Jeremy Langford rambled for 94 yards and a score on 20 carries (4.7 yards per carry) … MSU yielded just 11 rushing yards on 27 attempts (0.4 yards per carry) … The Spartan defense scored twice and forced four turnovers.
Minnesota (1-0, 0-0)
Minnesota scored 35 second-half points to pull away from UNLV 51-23 … Sophomore quarterback Phillip Nelson connected on only10-of-22 pass attempts (45.5 percent) for 99 yards and one touchdown against one interception, but added 90 yards and two scores on the ground … Redshirt junior running back Donnell Kirkwood left the game in the third quarter with a right ankle injury … The Gophers' defense and special teams scored a combined three touchdowns in the second half.

No. 18 Nebraska struggled but survived in a 37-34 victory over Wyoming … Senior quarterback Taylor Martinez threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-22 passing (73.9 percent), and added 80 yards on the ground on 16 tries (5.0 yards per carry) … Sophomore back Imani Cross carried the ball 13 times for 105 yards (8.1 yards per carry) and two scores, and junior Ameer Abdullah contributed 114 yards rushing yards on 19 carries (6.0 yards per carry) … The Huskers were outgained 602-530 in total yardage.

No. 22 Northwestern roared past Cal 44-30 … Senior quarterback Kain Colter was knocked out of the game with a concussion … Sophomore quarterback Trevor Siemian was accurate on 18-of-29 pass attempts (62.1 percent) for 276 yards and a touchdown, but threw two picks … Junior running back Treyvon Green raced for 129 yards and two scores on 16 carries (8.1 yards per carry) … Redshirt junior linebacker Collin Ellis returned two interceptions for touchdowns.
Ohio State (1-0, 0-0)
No. 2 Ohio State relied on 23 first-quarter points to hold off Buffalo in a 40-20 triumph … Junior quarterback Braxton Miller totaled 255 yards of offense and two touchdowns … Fifth-year senior running back Jordan Hall rumbled for 159 yards and two scores on 21 carries (7.6 yards per carry) … Fifth-year senior wide receiver Chris Fields snagged three passes for 61 yards (21.0 yards per reception) and two touchdowns … Sophomore defensive end Noah Spence made six tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack.
Penn State (1-0, 0-0)
Penn State snuck past Syracuse 23-17 at MetLife Stadium … Quarterback Christian Hackenberg-the first freshman to start at PSU under center since 1910-went 22-for-31 (70.9 percent) for 278 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions … Junior wide receiver Allen Robinson amassed 133 receiving yards and a score on seven catches (19.0 yards per reception)-all of which came in the second half … Senior defensive tackle DaQuan Jones paced the Nittany Lions with 8.5 tackles, including three tackles for loss and a sack.
Purdue (0-1, 0-0)
Purdue was throttled 42-7 by Cincinnati in Darrell Hazell's debut as PU's head coach … Fifth-year senior quarterback Rob Henry completed 18-of-35 passes (51.4 percent) for 161 yards and two interceptions … Freshman running back Dalyn Dawkins led the Boilermakers in rushing with just 26 yards on four carries (6.5 yards per carry), and added 44 receiving yards on three receptions (14.7 yards per reception) … Purdue managed just 226 yards of total offense and committed four turnovers… The Bearcats scored the final 35 points of the contest.
Wisconsin (1-0, 0-0)
No. 23 Wisconsin began the Gary Anderson era with a bang by destroying Massachusetts 45-0 … Redshirt sophomore quarterback Joel Stave threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns on 9-of-17 passing (52.9 percent) … For the first time in school history, UW had three running backs gain over 100 yards in a season opener: redshirt sophomore Melvin Gordon (146 yards, one touchdown), senior James White (146 yards, one touchdown) and freshman Corey Clement (102 yards, one touchdown) … The Badgers outgained the Minutemen 598-212.
