Although suspense was mostly limited in the week leading up to his announcement, Michigan fans surely still breathed a sigh of relief when Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward 2015 cornerback Shaun Crawford officially pledged to the Maize and Blue this afternoon.

"After my 2014 season, I will play football at the University of Michigan," he said in a commitment announcement streamed live on ESPN.com. "I just always felt Michigan was the place to be."
Crawford is a 5-9, 170-pounder whose St. Edward program has been one of Ohio's most successful in recent years. Crawford was a big part of that success last year, when his 24 receptions for 420 yards (17.5 yards per catch) and five touchdowns aided the Eagles' offense, and his 56 tackles and two picks helped spearhead a solid defense. The Eagles fell in the second round of the playoffs to Mentor High School.
The St. Ed's program last produced a Wolverine in the 2012 class, when five-star offensive lineman Kyle Kalis decommitted from Ohio State to join the Michigan program. St. Edward won the only state title in school history in 2010.
Crawford is the fifth commitment in Michigan's 2015 class, joining Kentucky running back Damien Harris, Florida wide receiver George Campbell, Pennsylvania offensive lineman Jon Runyan Jr., and Ohio kicker Andrew David. He has already been in touch with Campbell and 2014 cornerback commit Jabrill Peppers.
"I really talk to Jabrill and George Campbell," he said. "They really gave me that family atmosphere and we just talked about how the class is looking. They have a great class coming up in the future so I just wanted to be a part of that and just help bring a national title to Michigan."
The 2015 class is expected to consist of approximately 15 commitments. Crawford is expected to rank in the Rivals250 - possibly even as a top-100 prospect - when that class' initial ratings are revealed on Rivals.com next week.
