David Long Goes Blue

It's official: Los Angeles Loyola 2016 defensive back David Long is a Wolverine. He committed to the Maize and Blue on ESPNU's Recruiting Nation show this afternoon.

The 6-0, 170-pound Long becomes the second highest-rated commitment in the class as the No. 81 overall prospect and No. 9 cornerback nationally, and the No. 13 senior in California.

Washington was the runner-up for Long, who decommitted from Stanford this December. He took an official visit to Ann Arbor for the Oct. 17 game against Michigan State, and although still with the Cardinal at that point, U-M was right in the mix.

Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, and Wisconsin were among his other offers.

Long becomes commitment No. 21 for Michigan (after a two-day stretch that saw the Wolverines lose three longtime pledges). The Maize and Blue are back up to No. 6 nationally in the Rivals.com Team Rankings after dropping from a brief stay at No. 1 in December, and a longer tenure at No. 3 until recent days.
