On Friday night, Cleveland Heights High four-star strongside defensive end Tyreke Smith released his top five schools via a video on Twitter, and Michigan surprisingly did not make the cut. Though he had spoken highly of the Wolverines throughout much of his recruitment, he decided to settle on a final five of Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and USC.

Smith was in attendance at Michigan’s June 3 satellite camp at John Carroll University in Ohio, and seemed to have great chemistry with defensive line coach Greg Mattison. In fact, Smith spoke very highly of his relationship with Mattison over the past few months, leading many to believe the Wolverines had a solid chance of landing the four-star.

The defensive end's stock has been steadily on the rise as of late, as he jumped from No. 211 overall to No. 107 in the latest Rivals rankings update.
