Garrett Taylor decommits

After informing Rivals.com National Director of Recruiting Mike Farrell that a decommitment was imminent, Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's School four-star cornerback Garrett Taylor has made things official:

I have de committed from the University of Michigan. Thank you to the Michigan coaching staff for the opportunity they gave me.— Garrett Taylor (@gtaychillin) October 27, 2014
Taylor committed to Michigan March 24. The No. 48 overall prospect and No. 6 cornerback nationally, he is the third-best prospect in the state of Virginia. The 6-1, 188-pounder is a versatile prospect for the secondary, but was planning to play corner at Michigan. He informed his area recruiter and position coach Roy Manning this afternoon that he was no longer a Wolverine.
Taylor had loosened his stance on Michigan in recent weeks, following a disappointing beginning to the Wolverines' 2014 season, and the questions that have risen about the job status of U-M head coach Brady Hoke. He visited Virginia Tech last Thursday, and has set up official visits to Ohio State and Penn State Nov. 21 and 28, respectively.
With Taylor's decommitment - following early rescinded pledges from running back Damien Harris, wide receiver George Campbell, fellow defensive back Shaun Crawford, and defensive end Darian Roseboro - Michigan is down to nine pledges in the 2015 class. The decommitment drops Michigan out of the national top-30 in the Rivals.com team rankings, to No. 42 nationally, one spot ahead of Big Ten conference-mate Northwestern and behind Rutgers. All classes ranked ahead of the Maize and Blue have at least 12 pledges.
