Good Afternoon, Michigan Football: Will the defense be better in 2023?

M&BR's Dennis Fithian is back with another episode of Good Afternoon, Michigan Football!

After hearing Michigan co-defensive coordinator Jesse Minter on U-M's pod this week I decided to ask the question if the 2023 defense will be as good as last year's defense. Now, just looking at the schedule you may think it will be more difficult considering UM's B1G crossover games last year were Iowa/Illinois and this year its Nebraska/Minnesota. You may also be wondering if Michigan can keep Penn State under 18 points for the third year in a row and how about holding Ohio State to under 24 points again? Also, I watched last Saturday's Michigan State spring scrimmage and give my thoughts on what stood out with the Spartans.

Breakdown

- Jesse Minter 00:00-:25

- Open :26-1:19

- Will U-M's '23 defense be better than last years 1:20-6:40

- Feedback 6:41-18:40

- Minter's monsters last year 18:41-30:37

- U-M's depth chart 30:38-40:25

- Minter on U-M's edge rushers 40:26-48:49

- MSU scrimmage thoughts 48:50-105:44
