Michigan offered Anaheim Servite three-star safety Julius Irvin just over two months ago, but still made his top five on Friday night, along with Notre Dame, USC, Utah and Washington.
Though Rivals has him ranked as just a three-star, the 6-1, 180-pound safety has the offer list of someone rated much higher.
Irvin holds scholarships from the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.
Michigan currently has one safety committed in its 2018 class – DeSoto (Tex.) High three-star German Green – but could potentially look to take one more at the position.
Junior Tyree Kinnel and sophomore Josh Metellus are expected to be the Wolverines' starting safeties on the field in 2017.
