Michigan commit Michael Hage drafted by Montreal Canadiens

A future star for the Michigan Wolverines heard his name at the NHL Draft Friday night, with center Michael Hage being selected with the 21st pick overall by the Montreal Canadiens.

It was an incredible moment for Hage, who grew up a Canadiens fan because of his father, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Hage extends Michigan Hockey's streak of first-round picks to eight consecutive years.

A center from Canada, Hage played the last two seasons in the USHL for the Chicago Steel. In a breakout season last year, Hage was All-USHL First-Team with 75 points, 33 goals and 42 assists.

Ahead of the NHL Draft, Hage was awarded the E. J. McGuire Award of Excellence, given to the draft prospect who best exemplifies the "commitment to excellence through strength of character, competitiveness and athleticism."

Hage is expected to join Michigan this fall and could have an immediate impact in Ann Arbor.
