Redshirt junior Drake Harris is a wide receiver no more. He announced via Twitter he would be moving to cornerback for his fourth year.
Harris set state records as a wide receiver at Grand Rapids Christian, catching 93 passes for 2,000-plus yards in a state championship season as a senior. His career has been hampered by several hamstring injuries, however, that have kept him from reaching his potential. He redshirted his first season because of them.
Harris has caught eight passes for 50 yards in his Michigan career, but he missed the spring game presumably due to injury.
Harris will vie for time against sophomores David Long and Lavert Hill and veterans Keith Washington and Brandon Watson. True freshmen Benjamin St-Juste and Ambry Thomas are also in the mix.
